How can we attract more talent to the cybersecurity field? As part of the World Economic Forum working group, we worked on the Strategic Cybersecurity Talent Framework white paper to highlight four key messages: We need to reduce barriers to entry into the cybersecurity field as career changers and thus improve diversity – that is, unrealistic and demanding requirements in job descriptions should be reconsidered. Through cybersecurity education, we can empower students and professionals to understand career opportunities and pursue a path into this field. It is very important to think not only about new recruits, but also about retaining professionals already working in the field: Appreciation and recognition of their very important work should be improved – with managers understanding the context and impact of a good cybersecurity environment.
