5th Automotive Security Expert Dialogue
Titled Incident Response Management
Automotive Security, the 5th instance of the Institute for Security and Safety’s Automotive Security Expert Dialogue was held on 14th April 2022. Participants were able to gain insights into the topic through presentations: Experts from the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences gave an over view on incident response management from an automotive perspective, while the second presentation lead the audience through the intricacies of cyber incident response.
The series of presentations showed that the increasing networking of vehicles makes the implementation of a well-thought-out incident response management process indispensable. The presentations vividly illustrated the current challenges OEMs and suppliers face when incident response processes have to be guaranteed over the entire life cycle of a car - especially due to the constant technological progress, the resulting new attack vectors, and the difficulty of planning such processes over decades.
Topics of the general discussion later on where the desire for closer bilateral relationships be-tween industry and academic stakeholders, as well as the relevancy of Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs), as a means for quick and efficient prevention and countermeasures in the case of cybersecurity incidents.
The next round of the Dialogue will take a look at Chinese automotive cybersecurity regulations and their implications for German OEMs and suppliers. Please contact i.neise@uniss.org to learn more about this format and how to participate.
